From there, your journey leads you southward to Aswan, where the enchanting island of Philae beckons with its captivating Temple of Isis.

Venture to the charming village of Abu Simbel and bear witness to the awe-inspiring Temples of Abu Simbel, masterfully carved into the stony mountain that serves as their backdrop. After an exhilarating exploration, take a moment to unwind and indulge in a refreshing cup of mint tea at the world-renowned Old Cataract Hotel, a cherished haven that has played host to illustrious figures such as Winston Churchill and Agatha Christie. Immerse yourself in the essence of the Nile as you partake in the renowned Felucca sailing experience, before embarking on a luxurious cruise ship bound for Luxor. Itinerary Highlights

Luxur: Here is where you get to visit the spellbinding complex structures of The Karnak. Magnificently, this structure took over 1,000 years to complete, humbling anything like it in the ancient or modern world. At its pinnacle, it was the most marvelous and most important temple ever built.

Protected by the World Monument Fund, studies continue to occur to comprehend the complex spiritual practices that dominated the life of the temple structures. This site can be enjoyed during the day as well as at night experiencing its famous sound-and-light show, never to be missed.

While in Luxor, you will also get to visit the Temple of Philae on the island of Agilkia. Though originally the temple, was erected near the expansive First Cataract of the Nile, it was moved as part of the efforts of UNESCO Nubian Campaign Project to its current location. Mentioned by many ancient writers, the temple was 1,250 ft (380 meters) long and close to 390 ft (120 meters) wide. Mythically, it is suggested that this is where the god Osiris was buried. According to legends, his wife and goddess Isis, cried so hard over his murder that the ancient Nile was created from her tears.

Aswan: This city includes five incredible monuments that fall under the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. They are part of the International Campaign to Save the Monuments of Nubia. These five sites include the temples of Abu Simbel and Philae, the Old and Middle Kingdom tombs of Qubbet el-Hawa, the town of Elephantine, the stone quarries and Unfinished Oblesik, and the the Monastery of St. Simeon and the Fatimid Cemetery.

There is plenty to see and learn in this city. You are only bounded by your time and interest.

Suggested Detailed Itinerary

Day 1/10

Cairo: Welcome to Egypt! Your private guide will meet you at the airport at the time of your arrival ready to transport you to your hotel.

Depending on the time of your arrival and your level of tiredness from the flight, you will be left to rest today, or an excursion will be suggested to you for your leisure.

During this trip, be prepared to try different types of traditional and non-traditional foods. There are thousands of restaurants and cafes all over the country with varying degree of notoriety. You may wish to consult with your guide or explore on the internet some of these options available to you.

Day 2/10

Cairo: This morning you will be picked up from your hotel to head down to the Giza plateau where the legendary Great Pyramids of Giza and their devoted companion, Sphinx reside. Nothing can prepare you for the site you are about to experience.

With elegance and grandiosity, these colossal structures stood the lapse of time for over 4,500 years. They inspired writers and poets as far back as the beginning of time. From Herodotus, the Greek historian to Agatha Christie, the renowned English author many have recorded their impressions of the sojourn at these impressive structures.

Right next to the pyramids and with incredible majesty, you will find the new Grand Museum of Egypt, which is scheduled to open November 4^th, 2022. This museum is the largest archaeological museums in the world with over 5,000 pieces of antiquity and arts on display. Marvellously, it will also contain the complete collection of treasures found in the tomb of the Myth-inspiring Pharaoh, Tutankhamun by the famous archeologist, Howard Carter.

Either in the evening or in the morning of the following day you will fly to the south of Egypt, to the city of Aswan.

Day 3/10

Aswan: This morning you will head by boat island of Philae. This is a small island of 492 yards (450 meters) long by 164 yards (150 meters) wide. Yet, it has accumulated significance capturing the imagination of incalculable visitors over centuries. This island represented at some point the southern border of Egypt. More importantly, this island was the centre of the cult of Isis, the faithful wife of the legend of Osiris.

On the island, you will recognize the prominent structure of the Temple of Isis. The temple was painstakingly relocated to where it is now with the vital assistance of the UNESCO. The reason being that after the construction of the Aswan dam nearby, the water surrounding the original site raised to a level threatening to submerge the temple.

Day 4/10

Aswan: After your early morning breakfast, your guide and driver will accompany you to the village of Abu Simbel, the site of the imposing Temples of Abu Simbel.

This solid rock-cut temple is simply grand in every way. Situated on the western bank of lake Nasser, it comprises of two massive solid rock-cut temples. Once temple was dedicated to the celebrated Pharaoh, Ramesses II and the other is dedicated to his wife Queen Nefertari.

The four colossal statues of Ramses in front of the main temple are spectacular examples of ancient Egyptian art. Discovered in 1813 by the Swiss Johann Burckhardt and later further explored by the Egyptologist Giovanni Belzoni, this temple rises an impressive 66 feet (20 meters) in the air. Did we mentioned it was hand carved in the stony mountain behind it?

Once you are back from your exciting visit to the complex of Abu Simbel, you can relax with some mint tea at another marvel, the Old Cataract Hotel. Visited by notables such as Winston Churchill, Agatha Christie, and Princess Diana, this is certainly a site worth visiting.

Day 5/10

Aswan: This morning you may wish to take the famous Felucca sailing experience before you board your cruise later in the day. This traditional Egyptian vessel is found in many places along the longest river in the world, the Nile.

Your boat will carry you to a nearby traditional Nubian village. There you will enjoy the stunning colors and flavours the Nubian civilization shared over their long history with both Egypt and Sudan.

In the evening, you will board your cruise ship which will take you to Luxor over night. These beautiful vessels have almost full-size bedroom cabins with stately grace and luxury.

Day 6/10

Edfu: This morning, you will disembark heading to visit the illustrious Temple of Edfu on the Western Bank of the Nile. This temple is a magnificently preserved shrine built during the Ptolemaic Kingdom between 237-7 BC. The inscriptions on the walls tell a story of myth and religion during the Hellenistic era in Egypt. This temple is an example of a nearly intact temple of ancient Egypt. No wonder it receives tens of thousands of tourists every year.

Luxor: is considered to be the largest open-air museum city in Egypt. It was built on the same area where once the magnificent city of Thebes was constructed. For centuries, it served as the official capital the cult centre for ancient Egyptians.

Your guide will invite you today to go to yet another mesmerising marvel of Thebes, Karnak Temple Complex. This complex with its colossal Great Hypostyle Hall, is considered the second most visited site in all of Egypt after, of course, the eternal Grand Pyramids of Giza.

From there you may wish to take an afternoon break before you head to the well let Temple of Luxor. Constructed some 2,500 years ago, it celebrated the revival of kingship. It is also believed that it was the site that hosted may of the coronations of old Pharaohs of ancient Egypt.

Day 7/10

Luxor: Since the population of Thebes (modern day city of Luxor) lived on the eastern bank of the Nile, the western bank of the was reserved to be the necropolis for the royal and the noble.

Sailing across the Nile, you will start your visit to the western bank starting the legendary Valley of the Kings. Mentioned numerously in the works of novelists and historians, it served for a period of nearly 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC as the site of rock-cut tombs for the Pharaohs of Egypt.

From there you will head on to visit the Valley of the Queens. (Yes! They had their tombs here as well.)

Later on, you will head to the mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the fifth pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt. Coming to Rule after her marriage to the Pharaoh Thutmose II, she managed to rule as regent for a son who was not her own, Pharaoh Thutmose III defying the system which previously only allowed direct mothers to rule on behalf of their biological sons.

In the evening, you will fly back to Cairo to continue exploring that mega city.

Day 8/10

Cairo: After your breakfast, your private guide will accompany to the site of the imposing Citadel in the centre of Cairo.

Built by Saladin, the illustrious noble commander who had a great rivalry with King Richard the Lionheart back in the 12^th century during the crusades. As the most paramount structure in Islamic Cairo quarters of the city, it was an impressive defensive fortress by all accounts. Constructed over the Muqattam Hills in the middle of Cairo, it acted as a backdrop to some of the most significant events in Egypt during the Middle Ages.

While in the area, you will get to see other important historical structures. Just remember your trip is too short to visit literally hundreds of sites of varying degrees in size and importance in this part of the old city.

If you wish you can spend your day here exploring the rich history this area has and end your day by heading to the amazing Khan El-Khalili, the elaborate bazaar for getting gifts for yourself and friends and family.

Day 9/10

Cairo: Yesterday you spent your day in the old Islamic part of Cairo. Today you will visit the Christian ancient quarters of the city.

Cairo, the largest city in Africa, started from a point south of the current city named Old (Ancient) Cairo over two thousand years ago. During the Greco-Roman era, Egypt gradually became predominantly Christian.

This part of the city has several Christian and Jewish structures. Today you will visit the Hanging Church, the Church of St. Sergius, Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the Coptic Museum, the museum with the largest collection of Coptic relics in the world.

In the evening, you may wish to visit the Cairo tower for dinner and a spectacular panoramic view of this great city.

Day 10/10

Cairo: After your breakfast, your tour is completed. Arrangements will be made for you to be taken to the airport.
